Continuing Education Policy

Continuous learning is critical to creating and renewing the expertise and skills needed to assist patrons in this information age. With changing technology and service trends happening in libraries, staff must continually expand their knowledge in order to keep up with the rate of change.

Employees should attend at least one class or meeting at NCLS annually. They are required to participate in basic classes to assure acceptable competence in MS Word, internet searching, database searching, and a general familiarity with system resources available on the NCLS website.

All employees are expected to participate in training for requied NCLS system updates in order to stay current with day to day operation of the automation and Due North systems.

There are additional learning opportunities through the NCLS website, WebJunction, and the Kakn Academy.
